A couple weeks ago after work I finally made time to head down and see the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero. Having been to the museum a few years back (tearfully) it was great to finally see the memorial pools in the footprints of the original Twin Towers. I might add that going on a Monday night cuts down the touristy line and you can genuinely reflect and remember.
As said in the visitor’s guide “this tribute is a reminder of the enormous loss suffered on 9/11, but also a symbol of hope for the future.”
At over 1,360 tall, the Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in New York City, and even had their own zip code. The rebuilding of the World Trade Center includes 1 World Trade Center which at 1,776 feet will be the tallest building in the United States.

Awesome that you went here – I still have yet to do this and I’ve lived in NYC for almost 2 months.
Also I LOVE your blog – just started following!
